It was one of those dreams where you have sort of social embarrassment happen and you can't stop it, cause you're in a sleep state, but basically this dream was about I was trying to talk to someone, **a very important person to me at the time**. And all that would come out of my month, instead of normal words, was this very high-pitched singing “stay\~~” And no matter what I tried to say, that was the only sound that would come out of my mouth. 这首歌的创作灵感来源于我做的**一个怪异的梦**，这个梦讲的是我在社交中发生的尴尬事，而且因为你处于睡眠状态，你是没法阻止它的，这个梦大致是这样，我想跟一个人说话，**一个当时对我来说很重要的人**，但在这个梦里我无法正常说话，而只能唱出高音的”Stay\~~”，而且不管我想说的是什么，最终都只能发出这个声音。 --- 在2015年接受GQ杂志采访时，TS说到AYHTDWS I had **a dream** that **my ex showed up at my door, knocked on the door and I opened up** …. 我**梦到我的ex出现在我门口，敲门，然后我打开门**… （在15年那个人对TS来说是ex，不代表TS在13年初写AYHTDWS时那个人是ex） --- 在How You Get the Girl中，第一句就是 Stand there like a ghost shaking from the rain She'll open up the door and say, "Are you insane?" --- All You Had to Do Was Stay和How You Get the Girl都描述的是她的恋人，出现在她的门口，她打开门之后发生的事 这个场景又和< White Horse >很相似 在White Horse的MV中，第一个镜头就是门外的大雨，和男主打电话过来说"All I want is you" 在How You Get the Girl中 Stand there like a ghost shaking from the rain 在All You Had to Do Was Stay中 Here you are now calling me up, but I don't know what to say --- 在White Horse中 And there you are on your knees Begging for forgiveness, begging for me Just like I always wanted but I'm so sorry 在All You Had to Do Was Stay中 You were all I wanted, but not like this --- 在White Horse中 Now it's too late for you and your white horse to come around 在All You Had to Do Was Stay中 Now you say you want it back, now that it's just too late --- 在How You Get the Girl中 cause you know, I don't want you to go 在All You Had to Do Was Stay中 Stay, Stay, Stay, Stay, Stay --- All You Had to Do Was Stay、How You Get the Girl都与White Horse在某些方面相似，都是讲自己和恋人有矛盾要分开，恋人来挽回。 AYHTDWS说是梦中的场景，那HYGTG呢，恋人大雨中站在她门外瑟瑟发抖的场景是否真实发生过？ 也许这两首歌都来自于梦 也许这两首歌都是真实发生的事 也许这两首歌中恋人敲开她的门的场景既不是梦也没有实际发生，只是她和恋人之间有问题有尴尬，她心中犹豫到底要不要继续下去 --- 虽然都是有矛盾要分开恋人来挽回的故事，但这两首歌的故事结局完全不同，AYHTDWS是太晚了已无法挽回，HYGTG则是恋人挽回了她的心。 AYHTDWS唱着的是无法挽回，但TS实际想表达的是Stay --- 会有这样的矛盾性 也许是她口是心非，自尊心作祟，嘴上说着你赶紧走心里想的却是别走 也许是她当时徘徊在分开/复合这两个选择之间，理智与情感在内心冲突，于是她同时写了2首歌，给其中一首分开的结局，给另一首复合的结局，但那首看似要分开的歌最深层次的想法还是STAY。 --- 在2013年1月，她选择了STAY，选择给双方一个机会 **Baby, like we stood a chance**
