这首歌Taylor曾说过与State of Grace是同一个muse，一首是恋情的开始，一首是恋情的结束。因此两首歌被用来开始和结束原版red专辑。Begin Again中有2个muse，“You”是新的恋人，“he”是上一任结束的恋人。我认为这里的上一任结束的恋人与State Of Grace的muse一致，因此也是liz。
这首歌主要是Taylor对比新恋人和上一任的作为，觉得和上一任恋人相比，新恋人很温柔礼貌，理解自己，让自己终于能摆脱上一任恋人给自己带来的阴影。
